Delta Gamma at Texas A&M University, the Eta Gamma chapter, hosts a biannual event called "Lectureship."These women raised $50,000 from chapter philanthropy fundraising , and impressive amount that was matched by the Delta Gamma Foundation. Together, they were able to establish Lectureship in Values and Ethics, the first lectureship of its kind on the Texas A&M campus. Through this unique event, they are also able to give back to their university through the Texas A&M Foundation, providing funds for future motivational speakers. In years past, Eta Gamma has hosted Lizzie Velasquez and Sadie Robertson, both motivational speakers and authors.
Those past events have been extremely impactful, and this year is no different! Kennedy Stone, the chapter's Director of Lectureship, gave me the rundown on their successful Lectureship 2021 event and how great it was. Though this event is put on and enjoyed by the lovely Delta Gamma women, this event is open to everyone! Students from other organizations, Greek Life or not, as well as members of the Bryan/College Station area, are welcome to attend. By opening the event up, Delta Gamma at Texas A&M University is able to impact SO many more people and learn together as a community. More specifically, these events are aimed at the importance of peoples' ethical and social conduct in both their personal and professional lives.
And on November 18, 2021 - they did just that! Eta Gamma hosted Madison Prewett, author of the book "Made for this Moment: Standing Firm with Strength, Grace, and Courage." While she may be known for her time on Season 24 of "The Bachelor," Madi focused her story on the struggles of staying true to yourself in the age of social media, especially with the harsh standards society places on women today. Besides the book, Madi has helped with many outreach programs, and is well known among young women as a role model for navigating life and its many difficulties.

Madi's bubbly and extroverted personality was evident in her speech in how today's world can challenge you in many ways. She spoke about personal stories and struggles, and how young women can rise above adversity with confidence.
She chose to discuss the importance of truly knowing your worth and becoming a part of something bigger than yourself. With social media as ingrained in peoples' lives as it is today, this speech was relatable for all attendents.
Kennedy Stone, Director of Lectureship, talked about the having the privilege to work alongside with Madi and making their ideas come to life. She alongside her partner, Rebekah Mills, worked incredibly hard to make this event such a success. In the words of Kennedy, "Madison Prewett is the most humble, kind individual and is going to continue to be such an incredible advocate for young adults." Getting to witness her change the hearts of so many was the most rewarding experience for Kennedy and Rebekah, and I'm sure it's an event that the members of
Delta Gamma at Texas A&M Universitywill not soon forget.
